For many years, the Sons of the American Revolution (S.A.R.) has recognized the many common bonds of purpose and principles shared by the S.A.R. and the Boy Scouts of America. Through dedicated personal effort, those who have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout have done so with perseverance. They have successfully completed the extensive requirements, which include the demonstration of important leadership, citizenship, and community service projects. The Eagle Scout award is an honor - something to be proud of. Recognition Members of the (S.A.R.), who trace their ancestry to American Revolutionary War patriots, share with scouting these same ideals, which are essential to the preservation and maintenance of a strong America. We would consider it an honor and a privilege to be invited to your Troop Meeting or Court of Honor to present you with a Certificate of Recognition for your accomplishment. Scholarship Program Eagle Scouts are eligible to participate in the S.A.R. Eagle Scout Scholarship Program. Any Eagle Scout who is currently registered in an active unit and has not reached his 19th birthday during the year of his application, is eligible to submit an application. To apply, the Eagle Scout must complete and submit a Scholarship Application Form, a Four Generation Ancestor Chart, and an essay written on a patriotic theme. Applications are to be submitted prior to December 15. Scholarship winners are announced the following Spring.
The winning application will be forwarded to the California Society of the S.A.R. to complete with other S.A.R. Chapter winners. The winner at the State level will receive the S.A.R. Spreading Wing Desktop Bronze Eagle Trophy and a $500 cash award, to be presented at the annual meeting of the CASSAR in the spring. The winning State application will be submitted to SAR National Headquarters to compete with other state finalists. The National winner will be invited to attend the S.A.R. Annual Congress where he will be awarded an $8,000 scholarship. The First runner-up will receive a $4,000 scholarship. The second runner-up will receive a $2,000 scholarship.
